Surface Pumps
Surface Pumps · Technical Overview
The MV series is a family of vertical in-line pumps with a hermetic motor, ideal for pressurisation in compact plant rooms. It covers flows up to 15 m³/h and manometric heads up to 160 m, in single-phase 230 V or three-phase 400 V versions. The CDMF series is the vertical medium-pressure option with DIN flange connections, a cartridge mechanical seal (ALLOY/SiC/NBR) and a TEFC high-efficiency motor in IE2/IE3 class. The CDLF series is the lighter vertical variant, aimed at residential and commercial installations at moderate pressure; the CHLF series shares the same technical construction in horizontal configuration, useful when the plant-room clear height is limited.
All four series share AISI 304 stainless steel construction, IP 55 protection, Class F insulation, S1 continuous-duty operation at a nominal 2900 rpm, a SiC/graphite mechanical seal and compliance with the ISO 9906 Annex A standard for hydraulic performance testing. Operating conditions cover clean, thin liquids — no solids or fibres — at temperatures from −15 °C to 70 °C, with a maximum working pressure of 10 bar and a maximum ambient temperature of 52 °C.
These pumps are the core hydraulic element of a surface pressurisation system. Any of the series can be paired with a JOVAL Electrical Control Panel for digital protection and a Pressure Tank in stainless steel to build a tailored booster set; alternatively, JOVAL pre-assembles these components at the Fafe factory in the Booster Sets range (JMV), which integrates the MV series as the core of the compact versions.
Frequently asked questions
-
What is the difference between a surface pump and a submersible pump?
A surface pump is installed outside the water and draws the liquid through a suction pipe; a submersible pump operates fully submerged inside the borehole or tank. The surface pump is easier to inspect and maintain; the submersible avoids suction pipework and priming problems entirely.
-
What is a multistage pump and what is it for?
A multistage pump has several impeller stages mounted in series on the same shaft. Each stage adds roughly the same manometric head without changing the nominal flow, allowing compact pumps to reach high pressures — up to 160 m on the MV series.
-
What is the difference between the CDMF, CDLF and CHLF series?
CDMF are medium-pressure verticals with a DIN flange and moderate flow; CDLF are lighter verticals aimed at residential installations; CHLF share CDLF's technical construction in horizontal configuration, useful when the plant-room clear height is limited.
-
What motors do these pumps use and what is their energy efficiency?
All series use TEFC high-efficiency electric motors in class IE2 (single-phase) and IE3 (three-phase above 0.55 kW), with Class F insulation, IP 55 protection and S1 continuous-duty operation at a nominal 2900 rpm.
-
Can I build a complete pressurisation system from these pumps?
Yes. The typical combination is an MV or CDMF pump, a JOVAL Electrical Control Panel with digital protection and a stainless-steel Pressure Tank. For a pre-assembled solution, see the JMV Booster Sets range.
